Edo guber: PDP candidate can’t speak his language – Shaibu

Deputy Governor of Edo State Philip Shaibu has claimed that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the September 21, 2024, governorship election in the state, Asue Ighodalo, has not been accepted by the people of the state.

Shaibu, who spoke on Friday when he was featured on Channels TV programme, alleged that the PDP candidate is rejected by his kinsmen because he can’t speak their native language.

“I can tell you that the people don’t want Asue Ighodalo; even his own people in Ewohimi don’t want him because he can’t speak their language.”

According to Shaibu, Obaseki won the 2020 election out of sympathy, stating that the electorate perceived that the governor was being oppressed at that time.
