Edo guber: INEC deliberately frustrating our legal efforts — PDP

A member of the governorship campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, Regina Oviaesu, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of deliberately frustrating their legal efforts.

DAILY POST reported that INEC declared Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the election.

Okpebholo won 11 local government areas, while PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo won 7, leaving, Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, LP, with none.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, officially announced Okpebholo as the winner of the election.

Okpebholo, according to INEC, garnered 291,667 votes to beat Ighodalo and Akpata with 247,274 and 18,737 votes, respectively.

“INEC needs to allow us to inspect the BVAS machines and electoral materials, and this must be done promptly, as the filing of our case in court is time-bound,” Oviaesu said on Arise TV on Tuesday.
