Edo State Government says it spent a total of N58 billion for the construction of 565 network of roads across the state in 2023 fiscal year.
DAILY POST reports that the information is contained in the 2024 appropriation bill and budget estimates presented by the state governor, Godwin Obaseki to the House of Assembly.
Obaseki said the 566 roads covered a total distance of 737.37 kilometres.
He also disclosed that under the Edo State Employment and Expenditure for Result (SEEFOR), a total of 300 roads, spanning 212 kilometres, were constructed within the period under review across the state.
The governor added that his administration commenced palliative repairs on some federal government failed roads.
He listed the roads as Benin-Sapele, Benin-Agbor and Iruekpen-Sabongida-Ora roads, while a repair work on the old Benin-Agbor road which will ease traffic on the new road has also commenced.
