Edo APC Primary: State Working Committee passes vote of confidence on chairman, others

Following the protest by some youths of the Edo State All Progressives Congress, APC, over the conduct of Saturday’s governorship primaries that produced three candidates, the State Working Committee, SWC, on Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on the acting chairman, Jarrett Tenebe.

DAILY POST reports that the State Working Committee of the party also lifted the suspension earlier placed on Francis Inegbeniki, the Vice chairman of the party in Edo Central Senatorial District.

The SWC also passed a vote of confidence on the State Secretary of the party, Lawrence Okah and Peter Uwadiae, the State Publicity Secretary.

The State Publicity Secretary, Prince Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City.

Uwadiae said the decision to pass votes of confidence on the trio was taken at a meeting of the members of the State Working Committee on Tuesday.

He said the vote of confidence was occasioned by the excellent ways the executive officers have been piloting the affairs of the party, particularly at “this auspicious time of the party’s political evolution”.

He, added that the SWC enjoined the trio not to relent in their efforts in ensuring that justice, equity and fair play are robustly upheld at all times regardless of any undue pressure from any quarter.

Uwadiae, however, thanked the members of the party for their calmness in spite of the unprovoked attacks on them.

“At the end of the day, the peace that we hitherto enjoy in our party shall be restored,” assured.

On the lifting of suspension earlier placed on Francis Inegbineki, the Vice Chairman of the party in Edo Central Senatorial District, he said the SWC revisited the issue since the local government executives that were mandated to investigate the issue have not submitted any report.
