Economic hardship: ATBU dismisses rumours to shut down institution

The management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) has dismissed rumours of plans to close down the institution over a lack of funds.

A statement from the Directorate of Information of the University, signed by the Director, Zailani Bappa, said that it was mere rumour by the mongers for reasons best known to them.

“The attention of the management of the university is drawn to fabricated news credited to the DW (Hausa), which mentioned that ATBU may close down due to economic hardship,” Bappa stated.

He further clarified, “The management of the university categorically debunked this story from whatever source it was generated. In fact, nobody spoke to DW on behalf of the university nor issued any information to that medium in this regard.”

Bappa urged the public to be cautious about unverified information shared in the name of the university.
