Drug peddler remanded over alleged dealing in 1.1 kg of Cannabis

A Federal High Court in Ibadan has remanded one Tesleem Bolaji in the Agodi correctional centre for allegedly dealing in 1.1 kg of Cannabis Sativa.

The presiding judge, Justice Ekerete Akpan gave the order after Bolaji pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of unlawful dealing in narcotics brought against him.

Akpan adjourned the case until June 17 for the presentation of facts.

Earlier, counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Oyo State Command, Ann Balogun had told the court that the defendant committed the crime on March 6, in Ogbomoso, Oyo State Nigeria.

According to the prosecutor, the NDLEA operatives acted on a tip-off from concerned Nigerians before Bolaji was arrested with a sack containing the illicit substance.

She added that the offence contravened section 11(C ) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Law of the Federation 2004.
