Dorben Polytechnic, Abuja, one of Nigeria’s leading private polytechnics, marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 30th anniversary while also matriculating over 600 new students for the 2024/2025 academic session. The dual event, held at the institution’s campus in Abuja, was a momentous occasion filled with pride, reflection, and optimism for the future.
Founded in 1995, Dorben Polytechnic has consistently upheld its mission of providing quality technical and vocational education to Nigerian students. Over the past three decades, the institution has produced thousands of graduates who have excelled in various fields, contributing to national development.
The Rector, Mrs. Uzu Iyabo Oluyemisi, in her anniversary address, highlighted the polytechnic’s achievements, including accreditation of key programs, partnerships with industries, and the introduction of modern learning facilities.
“Thirty years of Dorben Polytechnic is not just a celebration of longevity but a testament to our commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and character development,” she said.
The anniversary celebration coincided with the matriculation of over 600 newly admitted students across various departments, including Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Environmental Studies.
The matriculation ceremony, presided over by the Registrar, Mr. V. U. Abianga (JP), saw students taking the oath of allegiance, pledging to uphold the institution’s values of discipline, hard work, and integrity.
One of the matriculating students expressed her excitement:
*“I am proud to be part of Dorben Polytechnic at such a historic time. I look forward to gaining the skills and knowledge that will shape my future.”*

As part of the anniversary celebrations, outstanding dignitaries and former students were honored for their contributions to the growth of the institution. The event also featured exhibitions of student projects, cultural performances, and Paper presentations by industry expert on; The Impact of Polytechnic Education on Skilled Workforce Development and influence of Artificial intelligence on Academic performance of students in higher Tertiary institutions in Nigeria
The management also announced key infrastructural projects that need the support of all in achieving it, including the introduction of new programs, acquisition of more equipments for the school, enhanced research facilities, increased collaborations with international institutions, and water projects in the host Community.
