A Delta State High Court sitting in Orerokpe community, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, has remanded into the facility of the Nigerian Correctional Services, Sapele, one Ernest Okporu who allegedly defiled his landlord’s 11-year-old daughter.
The Court presided over by Hon. Justice Joe Egwu also adjourned the matter to April 24 for the advice from the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP.
Okporu was arraigned in Court on Tuesday.
Human right activist, Comrade Kelvin Ejumudo hailed the Court for remanding the suspect, pointing out that it will serve as a deterrent to others.
According to Ejumudo, “for those who reached out to me to back off from this case and also offered money, I am sorry I do not indulge in such unscrupulous practice because an injury to one is an injury to all and injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.
“I will continue to push for a Nigerian society free from rape and defilement.”
