The Zamfara State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has revealed that the ongoing data capturing of motorcycle and tricycle riders will aid traffic management and security of the State.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the Sector Commander, Musa Udu, in Gusau, the State capital.
Udu, newly deployed to the command, lauded urban renewal projects, State Roads Traffic Agency and Data capturing of motorcycle, tricycle riders by the State Government.
According to him, the data capturing would help the FRSC in the control and management of traffic and assist in easily identifying and apprehending the culprits by security operatives.
The State FRSC boss commended the sister security agencies for synergy and continued support to the Corps during operations, particularly intelligence sharing with the sector command.
“On my resumption to the State as the boss of the FRSC in the State, I receive all the security agencies on courtesy visit, this demonstrates good working relationship and collaborative effort in dealing with the state challenges”, he added.
While appreciating the Federal Government for the reconstruction and dualization of Zaria-Sokoto road, he warned the motorists to be more careful on the roads, as driving under special condition required more attention.
He called on the construction companies to use adequate roads signs and train their personnel on traffic control to ensure safety of roads users.
Udu, therefore, charged the public to desist from night journies, considering the road condition due to construction work, rainfall and insecurity.
He identified overloading by the vehicles conveying goods from Kano to Sokoto and Kebbi as the major challenge in the command.
“We are seriously fighting the menace, and we will continue to book those found guilty of one thing against the law aimed at bringing them to justice,” he said.
