Dani Alves pays €1m bail, to leave prison

Former Brazil defender, Dani Alves, has paid his bail of €1 million and can leave jail pending his appeal.

This was confirmed in a court statement on Monday.

“We hereby inform you that the deposit of Daniel Alves’ bail has been registered in the accounts of the 21st section of the Barcelona Court,” the statement read.

Alves was convicted of rape in Spain in February.

The 40-year-old was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.

Alves is expected to submit both his Spanish and his Brazilian passports and must remain in Spain, agreeing to weekly court check-ins.
