Customs intercepts cache of arms, military uniform at Lagos Port

The Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has reportedly intercepted a cache of arms and ammunition being smuggled into Nigeria by some criminal elements.

Daily Trust reports that among the items intercepted are military camouflage and some illicit drugs such as Colorado.

The arms recovered include automatic single-barrel rifles and pump action guns.

Although details of the interception are still sketchy as at press time, it was learnt that the arms were recovered during an inspection of consignments imported into the country.

Recall that the Customs Service had in 2023, seized 31 arms of various types at Tin-Can and Multi-Purpose Terminals, PTML ports in Lagos.

About two suspects were arrested after the interception.

This is coming amid the deteriorating security crisis that has halted economic activities in many parts of the nation.
