Court vacates contempt order against EFCC director

The Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, vacated the contempt order against Aliyu Usman, the Director of the Proceeds of Crime Department at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

DAILY POST recalls that the court had directed the Inspector-General of Police to arrest the EFCC Director for disobeying an order directing operatives of the commission to vacate a property at No. 6, Aso Drive, Abuja.

However, EFCC Counsel, Francis Usani, asked the court for leniency and the purging of the contempt order against the director.

Justice Abubakar Hussaini Musa, who granted the prayers of the EFCC counsel, frowned at the disobedience of his orders.

Meanwhile, arguments were made on the main suit and a preliminary objection on jurisdiction, even as the case was adjourned to April 11, 2024, for judgement on the main suit.
