Court remands 2 for impersonating military men

A Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday, remanded two men, Kabiru Shehu and Ali Rabiu, for allegedly impersonating military men.

The Judge, Mr Aliyu Alhassan, ordered that the defendants be kept in Keffi Prison until Feb. 22.

The judge held that the remand was to enable the conclusion of investigations into the case.

Shehu, 37 and Rabiu, 24, were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and impersonation.

They, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the defendants were arrested on Jan. 16, at midnight, by a team of policemen from Karu Police Station.

The prosecutor said the defendants could not give a satisfactory account of themselves and the uniform.

Osho said the offences contravened Sections 133 and 132 of the Penal Code
