Court jails bartender for stealing N372,000 from employer

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, sentenced a 29-year-old bar attendant, Samson Timothy, to eight months imprisonment for stealing his employer’s N372,000.

The convict, a resident of Goni-gora in Kaduna, had pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, sentenced Timothy to eight months imprisonment without option of fine to serve as deterrent to would-be offenders.

The Prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, had informed the court that the defendant committed the offense on February 28 at Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna.

Leo told the court that the defendant, who was employed as a bartender by the complainant, Austin Okoro, at his leisure center, stole N372,000 on Feb. 28, which was part of his sales for the day.
