Corps members in Taraba to receive financial support for entrepreneurship endeavours

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Taraba State has commenced an initiative to provide financial support for Corps members venturing into entrepreneurship.

The state NYSC Coordinator, Anthony Nzoka, made the announcement on Monday during the graduation ceremony of Corps members from the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, program held on Monday in Jalingo

Addressing the gathering in Jalingo, he emphasized the importance of empowering Corps members with practical skills that can pave the way for a prosperous future.

He underscored the need for adaptation to contemporary realities, citing the growing population and subsequent pressure on job opportunities.

Nzoka stressed the significance of equipping Corps members with practical skills to secure a prosperous future.

He said, “This aspect of the scheme has been a core objective since its inception, but only gained momentum in 2012. Today, we celebrate your successful completion.”

Highlighting the evolving nature of the world and the pressing need for practical skills, Nzoka urged Corps members to take their training seriously and continue learning beyond the orientation course.

“We are collaborating with agencies to explore funding options available for Corps members during their service year. Our nation’s wealth lies in the skills of its citizens, and by enhancing our skills, we can overcome challenges,” he emphasized.

Encouraging Corps members to focus on creating employment opportunities through their acquired skills, Nzoka urged them to think strategically about deploying their skills for maximum impact.

The initiative, according to him, aims to not only foster entrepreneurship among Corps members but also to contribute to national development by harnessing the potential of skilled individuals.
