Copa del Rey: Atletico dump Real Madrid out of competition with 4-2 win

Real Madrid have been eliminated from this season’s Copa del Rey competition.

Los Blancos lost 4-2 to city rivals Atletico Madrid on Thursday night.

Samuel Lino opened the scoring for Diego Simeone’s men, before Jan Oblak’s own goal made it 1-1.

Alvaro Morata then put the hosts ahead with an opportunistic finish, but again Madrid levelled through Joselu’s header.

The game went into extra time, where Antoine Griezmann and Rodrigo Riquelme both scored to win it.

Speaking after their 21-game unbeaten run came to an end, Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said, “No one deserves to lose.

“We gave our all. I think in the end there’s nothing to reproach. We have to look ahead.
