Ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to enable eligible citizens who are not registered voters to do so.
The exercise is only open to new registrants and those who seek to transfer their registration.
The Commission disclosed this in a post on its official X handle on Monday.
“The Voter Registration exercise began this morning in Ondo State in preparation for the governorship election scheduled for 16th November 2024.
“Pictures below show registrants being attended to at the State Office Centre, Alagbaka,” INEC wrote on X.
DAILY POST recalls that the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, had last month during in a consultative meeting with political party Leaders ahead of the 2024 Edo and Ondo States Governorship Elections announced it would conduct a CVR in the two results.
According to him, the CVR in the two States will take place simultaneously from Monday 27th May 2024 to Wednesday 5th June 2024 from 9.00am to 3.00pm daily including the weekend.
Yakubu also said the exercise would be conducted at Ward level and State headquarters instead of the Local Government Area offices and a few designated centers as was case in the past.
