Conference League: He’s very big, strong – Maresca happy with Chelsea star

Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca has praised Cesare Casadei following his display in a new, holding midfield, role after his side’s 4-2 Conference League win against Gent on Thursday.

Maresca said is was happy with Casadei’s display against the Belgium club.

According to him, the 21-year-old is very big and physically strong.

Recall that goals from Renato Veiga and Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall, Pedro Neto and Christopher Nkunku gave the Blues the victory over Gent at Stamford Bridge.

“Cesare played very good against Barrow and played even better tonight [against Gernot]. I’m very happy with the way he is playing,” Maresca said in his post-match press conference.

“I had Caseare last year and he was playing a little bit in a different position but his year we are using him like a holding midfielder.

“The reason is because I think football is going in a direction where in the middle you need physical players and Casere off the ball is very big and physically strong and he can help us when we want to press.”
