Championship: Aribo reflects on Southampton’s win against Swansea, goal music

Joe Aribo has reacted to his maiden strike of the season for Southampton and was surprised to hear his own goal music.

The midfielder scored the opening goal as the Saints thrashed Swansea 5-0 on Boxing Day.

Aribo’s deflected strike was his maiden goal of the season – and his first Southampton goal in 451 days.

A loud music eulogising him erupted inside the stadium after the goal.

The Nigeria international was happy to hear the music.

“It’s an amazing feeling for me and a long time coming,” Aribo told the Daily Echo.

“It’s the first time I’ve heard it. It’s a very good song to be fair. For us they (the fans) are amazing. They are our twelfth man.

“When they are behind us it is an amazing feeling. They give us the confidence.”
