Real Madrid legend, Iker Casillas has said that Andriy Lunin should start over Thibaut Courtois for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.
As discussions intensify over the optimal goalkeeper choice for the Wembley showdown on June 1, Casillas, drawing from his extensive experience guarding Los Blancos’ goalposts in European football’s most prestigious tournament, offers his perspective.
He emphasized Lunin’s reliability and recommended his continuation in the pivotal role while expressing confidence in Courtois’ eventual resurgence despite his recent recovery.
“I think in the final Lunin should continue,” Casillas said (via Madrid Xtra).
“Courtois doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone, he will be the best goalkeeper in the world again, but he has recently recovered. Lunin has shown he is a guarantee.”
