CAF Confed Cup: Eguma upbeat on River United’s chances despite loss to Club Africain

Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma is optimistic his side will earn a place in the knockout round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Nigerian club fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Club Africain of Tunisia in their matchday four encounter on Thursday night.

The Port Harcourt club dropped to third position in Group C following the defeat.

The result also cast doubt on their chances of scaling through to the quarter-final stage of the competition.

Eguma is, however, certain they will overcome the defeat and make it to the next round.

“We are a good team despite our undoing today. On a good day, we gave a very good account of ourselves and I believe that the future is still bright for us.

“We can go back and correct our mistakes and come out stronger in subsequent matches and before you know it, we will get there. I strongly believe that we will qualify from our group”, he said.

Rivers United will take on Angola’s Academica do Lobito in their next game in the competition in February, 2024.
