Bundesliga: Leverkusen’s Tella targets record-extending win against Cologne

Bayer Leverkusen winger, Nathan Tella hopes the squad can continue their impressive form when they take on rivals, FC Cologne in the Rhine Derby this weekend.

Xabi Alonso’s side are unbeaten in 33 Bundesliga games this season.

Die Werkself will be desperate to improve the record when they visit the Rhein-Energie Stadion.

It will be the first time Tella will be playing in the Rhine Derby following his arrival from Southampton last season.

The Nigeria international admitted that it will be a special game for him and his teammates.

“Yes, it is a very special game. As a team, we are all looking forward to playing against our rivals,” Tella told Bundesliga International.

“It is going to be a good game. A good opportunity for us. We always want to make our supporters happy. It means a lot for us but also for them.

“We have given them a lot of good memories this season and we want to continue to do that.”

The 24-year-old has registered four goals and four assists for Die Werkself this season.
