Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface says it was tough staying on the sidelines without kicking the ball due to injury.
Boniface sustained an adductor injury during Nigeria’s preparatory camp for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Abu Dhabi,
United Arab Emirates.
The 23-year-old underwent surgery afterwards and spent around three months on the sidelines.
The Nigeria international returned to action in Bayer Leverkusen’s DFB Pokal victory against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Wednesday night.
The striker reflected on his time out on the sidelines.
“To be honest, it was very difficult, you know. I got injured in preparations to represent my country and the timing was bad because Leverkusen really needed me, but I had my teammates, I had the coach, and everyone in the club was there for me, so it was good,” the striker told the club’s official website.
