Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has announced Wednesday, February 7, as a work-free day to commemorate three days of prayers for the late former governor of the state, Bukar Ibrahim.
Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday in Damaturu.
Mohammed stated that this day has been designated for offering prayers for the former governor, who passed away in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
He said that the three-day prayer sessions will take place at the Government House Mosque in Damaturu, as the Yobe government, under the leadership of Governor Buni, has assumed responsibility for overseeing the funeral rites to honor the late governor.
Governor Buni, accompanied by government officials and the family of the deceased, has been receiving condolences from sympathisers within and outside the state at the Government House in Damaturu.
