Following the surge in violent crimes in the country, the Benue State Government has released phone numbers for the public to provide information to the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security in the event of such cases.
The phone numbers were disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security and Strategic Liaison, Colonel Alexander Ashungu (retired), on Wednesday in Makurdi.
Colonel Ashungu said the state has zero tolerance for crime and urged the public to report any incidents for investigation and necessary action.
“Any member of the public who suspects any suspicious movement, gathering, or unauthorised persons bearing arms, particularly in our rural forests, should report through any of the following numbers for investigation and further action,” he stated.
He further noted that the state government has been working tirelessly to ensure the safety of inhabitants and businesses.
“As we speak, a number of kidnapped victims have been rescued, and we are actively pursuing those perpetrating such heinous crimes in the state.”
Colonel Ashungu commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for prioritising security and lives as crucial areas in his government.
He also acknowledged the commendable efforts of the police and the armed forces in maintaining security and peace in the state.
