Benin Airport Attack: Suspects gone into hiding to evade arrest – Edo Police

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye on Monday said suspected political thugs who masterminded the invasion of Benin Airport and the killing of Inspector Akor Onuh last Thursday have abandoned their home to evade arrest.

Adegboye, who said the suspects had been invited by the Command, alleged that they had all gone into hiding.

DAILY POST recalls that last Thursday at the Benin Airport suspected sponsored political thugs invaded the airport and attacked the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo and the reinstated Deputy governor of the state Philip Shaibu

The attack led to the killing of Inspector Akor Onuh, a security aide to the APC governorship candidate.

The Commissioner of Police disclosed this while giving an update on the Command’s investigation into the attack.

Adegboye, who did not give the names of the suspects under investigation, however, assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

The commissioner, who, however, apologized to Sen Okpebholo, on behalf of officers during a protest to the command, added that the suspects fingered in the attack have abandoned their homes in the state.

According to him, investigations are ongoing to unravel the mystery surrounding the killing of the gallant officer and attempted murder of the governorship candidate of the APC, Okpebholo.

“The command is not leaving any stone unturned to fish out the perpetrators who have abandoned their homes”, he said.

The Commissioner said as a result of their actions, the police have dropped the invitation with their family members.

He threatened that if the suspects failed to honour the invitation, appropriate legal procedure would be followed which include declaring them wanted.
