Super Eagles midfielder, Raphael Onyedika started the new season on a disappointing note with Club Brugge losing 2-1 to Union St. Gilloise in the Belgian Super Cup.
The Super Cup ushered in the new league season in Belgium which gets underway next weekend.
Onyedika started the keenly contested game from the bench.
The 23-year-old took the place of Casper Nielsen four minutes before the hour mark.
Cameron Puertas gave Club Brugge the lead from the penalty spot five minutes before the break, while Fedde Laysen equalised two minutes after the break.
Christos Tzolis reduced the deficit for Club Brugge 11 minutes from time.
