The All Progressives Congress, APC in Bauchi State has warned the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state and the State Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC to avoid any attempts at manipulating the election results.
The party gave the warning at the weekend while presenting its candidates for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2024.
Speaking during the flag-off of its campaign, the acting Chairman of the party in the State, Mohammed Hassan Tilde, expressed the party’s concerns while accusing the PDP of planning to manipulate the electoral process.
“We in the APC are fully prepared to counter any manipulative efforts by the ruling party,” Tilde asserted.
He also cautioned BASIEC against teaming up with the current government to rig the election.
Tilde urged APC members, especially those assigned to electoral duties at various constituencies and polling stations, to diligently protect the party’s votes.
Tilde further emphasised that the APC has fielded candidates for all 20 chairmanship positions and 323 councilorship seats in the state, expressing confidence in the party’s ability to win all the seats.
In his remarks, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, who represents the Bauchi South Senatorial District, expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory if BASIEC remains committed to conducting free, fair, and credible elections.
He expressed optimism that the electorate would favour the APC in the upcoming elections.
“The battle between the ruling party and the main opposition has just begun as we look ahead to the 2027 general elections,” Umar stated, affirming the APC’s readiness for the contest.
