Bauchi LG election: Police restrict movement

Ahead of the local government council elections taking place in Bauchi tomorrow, Saturday, August 17, 2024, the State Police Command has put in place security measures to ensure the safety of citizens at the 5,013 polling units across the state.

The command has also deployed personnel to key locations across the state in partnership with other security agencies.

A statement issued by the spokesman of the command, SP Mohammed Wakil, read: “To maintain public order and prevent disruptions during the election, vehicular movement will be restricted from 7 am to 4 pm on Saturday, with exceptions made for essential services such as medical personnel, journalists, and emergency responders.

“While the Command acknowledges the inconvenience these measures may cause, all eligible voters should comply with the law and participate in the election without fear or intimidation.”

The statement added that any individuals or groups attempting to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election will face decisive action.
