Banex Plaza remains under lock after soldiers, traders clash

Popular Banex Plaza, an electronics and telecommunications gadget market in Abuja, has remained under lock and key, days after soldiers and some traders at the market clashed.

Reports indicate that soldiers are still stationed across the plaza.

It said military vans were seen stationed across different spots at the plaza.

According to a report by Daily Trust, some traders who assembled at a distance from the plaza were seen leaving after waiting for hours.

The report said none of the traders agreed to speak to the press but were heard lamenting the cost implication of having the plaza shut down on a major business day like Monday.

DAILY POST reported on Saturday that Soldiers and traders clashed at the popular gadgets market over the reported sale of a defective phone.

Confusion as traders, soldiers clash at Banex Plaza in Abuja

A trader had reportedly sold a bad phone to someone who invited soldiers.

Although the police stepped in to resolve the situation, soldiers later stormed the plaza, forcing traders to shut down immediately.
