Bandits kill 20 villagers, 4 police officers, 2 others in Katsina

A brutal attack by armed bandits in Katsina State has left 26 people dead and 2 injured. The attack, which unfolded on June 10, 2024, targeted villages in Kankara Local Government Area.

The spokesperson of the Katsina State Police Command, ASP Sadiq Abubakar, disclosed in a press statement that the gunmen riding on motorcycles descended upon Gidan Boka village, killing 15 innocent villagers.

Tragically, they also ambushed a police patrol team responding to the distress call near Kurmeji village, killing four police officers, consisting of three inspectors and one corporal, along with two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, KSCWC.

The hoodlums reportedly killed five additional villagers as they fled through Dan Nakwabo village to their hideouts.

Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Musa Aliyu, expressed the command’s utter dismay over the incident and extended its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those affected.

According to CP Aliyu, the command is working with all relevant stakeholders to prevent further occurrences and ensure the arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
