Bandits attack Zamfara with anti-aircraft guns, kill two policemen, others

Gunmen suspected to be bandits causing mayhem in Zamfara State have attacked the Kasuwa-Daji Town in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of the state.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, led to the death of at least four persons, including two police officers.

No fewer than forty residents were also kidnapped by the daredevil terrorists who invaded the area with sophisticated weapons including anti-aircraft guns.

The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, who confirmed the attack to Channels Television, could not indicate the exact number of persons abducted.

“We are yet to confirm the number of the residents abducted but the Commissioner of Police has deployed additional troops to restore normalcy in the town.”

However, residents said at least forty persons have been missing since the attack was launched by the terrorists.

One of the residents of Kaura-Namoda town Abubakar Kaura said the bandits also attacked the home of the former State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Hamisu Kasuwar-Daji and abducted one of his wives and grandchildren.

According to him, the house of the former NURTW chief is close to a police station in the town, stating that the bandits attacked the station, disarmed the policemen on duty, and killed two.
