Bandits abduct spare parts dealer in Sokoto

A spare parts dealer at Tambuwal Motor Park in the Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State has been abducted.

The incident was said to have occurred around 8pm on Saturday.

Tambuwal is the town of the immediate past Governor of the state, now Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

According to a source, the gunmen shot sporadically in the air, thereby making residents of the community to run for safety.

He explained, “The bandits injured one other person who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.”

He further explained that the gunmen’s mission was to kidnap the father of the trader who was not around at the time of their attack.

He stated that the kidnappers went away with the man’s son.

ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, the Public Relations Officer, Sokoto State Police Command, while confirming the attack, explained that the police were on the trail of the gunmen.

The police spokesman stated that Tambuwal is a transit town between Sokoto and Kebbi State, saying that they have informed police in the neighbouring communities in Kebbi as the search continues.
