Banditry: Gov Lawal, others attend first Northwest security summit

Governor Daida Lawal of Zamfara State participated in the first Northwest Security Summit organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Katsina State government.

The summit took place at the banquet hall in Katsina State, alongside other Northwest governors.

The governor emphasized Zamfara State’s longstanding struggle with insecurity and drug abuse, which has significantly impacted the safety and well-being of the people and hindered socio-economic development for over two decades.

“I believe that the outcomes of this summit will be crucial in shaping our future policy decisions and strategies to address these challenges,” he remarked.

“I express my gratitude to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who was represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, for his continuous efforts and unwavering support in countering banditry and other crimes in the Northwest region and Nigeria as a whole.”
