A public commentator in Zamfara State, Ibrahim Bakare has said the rate at which bandits kill and kidnap people in the state calls for public attention.
Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, Bakare said Zamfara State is gradually returning to a dark age where people’s blood was no longer sacred.
According to him, people should not be living like animals in their own homes, saying that everyone has the right to live and that nobody has the right to intimidate anybody unless there is no government.
He stressed that the bandits were not more powerful than the government, claiming the government did not want to act perfectly.
“Former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida said very clearly that nobody is above the power of the government. But why are all these happening in our unfortunate time, he queried.
“We are supposed to hold our leaders responsible for all these unfortunate incidents happening all over the country because we are not happy over these incidents”
He further stated that Nigeria is a rich country blessed with all necessary human and natural resources but Nigerians are suffering for nothing.
According to him, it will take Nigeria a long time to recover what it has lost, asking how Nigeria can explain the huge amount it is paying to political appointees that are after their selfish interest
“We have too many political appointees in this country, more than any country in the world but they are not helping issues.
