As controversy continued to trail the conduct of last Saturday’s governorship primary by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, the state chapter of the APC Renewed Hope Coalition has appealed to all aspirants that participated in the exercise to close ranks and support the candidature of Honourable Dennis Idahosa.
The chairman of the group, Steven Jim, made the call on Monday at a press briefing in Benin City.
While noting that there is no division in the party in the state, he opined that it was important for all members of the party to rally around the winner.
He added that it is only when members of the party and other aspirants rally around the winner of the primary that victory can be guaranteed at the September 21 governorship election.
According to him: “It is a known fact that Edo State is APC, and APC is Edo State. We will do all it takes to take back our state. In order to achieve this, we must speak with one voice and support our governorship candidate, the Honourable Dennis Idahosa.
“The emergency of Dennis Idahosa as the winner of the primary in Edo State is a testament to the APC’s commitment to promoting excellence and competence in governance.
“Our party, the APC, has demonstrated its dedication to selecting candidates based on their qualifications, vision, and ability to serve the people effectively, as well as putting the choice of the people first.”
He commended the governorship primary electoral committee led by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and the National Working Committee for their unwavering commitment to upholding the democratic ideas upon which the nation was founded.
