Anambra State government has dismissed as fake, a link circulating on social media on the empowerment of youths in the state.
The fake empowerment programme promises N2 billion in financial empowerment to 5,000 youths in the state.
But the Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr Christian Aburime said the link is fake and did not emanate from the government.
A press release disclaiming this, which was signed by Aburime said: “It has come to the attention of the Anambra State Government that a fraudulent message is circulating on various platforms, falsely claiming that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, is offering a N2 billion naira empowerment grant to 5,000 Anambra youths.
“The scam message also provides a link, urging individuals to apply for the said grant and also share the information for others to benefit.
“The Anambra State Government categorically disclaims this message in its entirety and hereby informs the public that it is a blatant scam.”
The state government recently trained youth in the state with skills and also empowered them financially to start up businesses in a programme named; 1 Youth, 2 Skills.
Aburime said the governor has the welfare of youths at heart and will continue to ensure training and empowerment for youths but added that such opportunities are advertised through government websites and press releases signed by its officials and not through faceless and fraudulent links.
