Alleged IPOB sit-at-home order: Imo Police Command mobilizes personnel for public safety

In reaction to a recent order allegedly issued by the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, directing residents to observe two days sit-at-home on October 21 and 22, the Imo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Armed Forces and other security agencies, have deployed security personnel at strategic locations within and outside the state capital to safeguard lives and properties.

A statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, disclosed that the Police and other security agencies are embarking on ‘Show of Force Operations and Confidence Building Patrols’ across the state in response to the alleged IPOB threat.

The Command described the sit-at-home order as unlawful and advised citizens to go about their lawful businesses.

“Starting today, October 19, and continuing through October 23, security personnel will enhance visibility policing through these patrols.

” Additionally, detectives will conduct reconnaissance operations to gather actionable intelligence. These efforts aim to reassure the public and maintain law and order,” the statement said.

The Command urged citizens to remain calm and vigilant, continuing their daily activities while being mindful of their surroundings.

The statement further advised residents to be at alert and report any suspicious activity observed within their neighborhood to the nearest Police station or via the Command’s emergency line at 08034773600.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, appreciates the support of the good people of Imo State and assures them that their safety is the Command’s top priority.

“Together, we can enhance the peace and security in our dear State.”
