Aliko Dangote names largest road to refinery after Herbert Wigwe

Nigerian business mogul and Africa’s richest man has named its largest road network to Dangote Refinery after the late founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Holdings, Herbert Wigwe.

On Monday, Dangote announced this in his condolence speech at a night of tribute titled ‘Celebrating Herbert Wigwe- A Professional Legacy’ in Lagos.

According to him, the decision was to immortalize Wigwe.

“Herbert was a visionary, role model, and perfectionist who gave much of himself. He is no longer here with us, but his transformative strides are seen throughout our economic landscape and social milieu.

“I am proud to name him my devoted friend, mentee and brother.

“Finding another Herbert is difficult; I owe him an eternal gratitude.

“Although he never joined the military line, he can be considered a soldier of courage and distinction.

“To immortalize my beloved friend, brother and mentee, I have decided to name our major refinery and petrochemical road, out of the 120 kilometres, the biggest road will be named Herbert Wigwe”, he said.

Recall that Wigwe’s family had announced a burial arrangement programme for the late Access Holdings Boss.

Less than a month ago, precisely February 9 this year, Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, son Chizi and the former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbajo, died in an unfortunate helicopter crash in California, United States.
