Akwa Ibom: Nigerian Police Personnel brutalize Okada rider

A cyclist man named Aniedi Bassey Samuel aka Ayuku, from Idung Udo, Eket Local Government, has suffered victimization from the Nigeria Police Officers, Eket Division, over motorcycle particulars.

The victim who spoke with the Press, informed that, a police officer stopped him at Uqua junction asking for his bike particulars.

“I waited to carry a passenger who was going towards James Town junction about 4:00pm, and immediately a police officer removed my key, and pushed my bike inside station. I asked him why he collected my bike and he said I should go and bring my particulars. I told him, I don’t go about with it because of the rain”.

“I told them to return my bike, one of them kicked me and left me. The other officers at the scene didn’t bother to ask what happened, but they started beating me all over with baton. When other bike men gathered, I was dragged inside the station”, he narrated.

Aniedi a father of 3 whose only means of livelihood is the motorcycle was intensely beaten, an eyewitness claimed, and left alone at the station.

The Press also learnt from the victim that he was brought to the Hospital for treatment by the Cyclist Chairman, Comr. Aniefiok Ntekim.

There’s been several reports of Police molestations of bike men in Eket and this is one case that the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom should look into.
