Akpoti-Uduaghan condemns fresh attacks in Kogi, seeks IGP’s intervention

Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has condemned the armed herders’ attack on the Agojeju-Odo community in Omala Local Government Area where at least 19 persons were killed and several others sustained severe gunshot injuries.

She called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene in the incessant killing by herders.

The lawmaker called for the investigation of the attack in the Kogi community, while she expressed her condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones.

In a statement by her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, on Saturday, she stressed the need for the security agencies to go after the masterminds of the heinous crime.

Furthermore, the senator called on both the state and federal governments to intervene immediately to prevent any further escalation of the crisis, while urging the security agencies to use intelligence in the pursuit of the perpetrators of the heinous act.

She advised the people of the community to join forces with the police to identify the criminals and bring them to justice.

The violent attacks occurred in two communities, Agojeju Odo and Abejukolo in Omala LGA of the State on Thursday, April 4.

The gunmen, who were having a running battle with Agatu militia in Benue, extended their onslaught to Agojeju Odo, Ajokpachi Odo, Bagaji, and environs, destroying their farm produce.
