Akpeyi offers to help solve Super Eagles goalkeeping problem

Moroka Swallows goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi has offered himself to help solve the goalkeeping problem in the Super Eagles.

The duo of Francis Uzoho and Maduka Okoye have failed to inspire confidence in recent outings for the three-time African champions.

There have been persistent calls for head coach, Jose Peseiro to drop the duo from the team.

Akpeyi, who has been in fantastic form for Swallows in the South Africa DStv Premiership this season is keen to make a return to the team.

“I think I’m better than yesterday. Today is better than yesterday. It’s just that (I’m) waiting for the opportunity, “the shot-stopper told reporters ahead of Swallows’ clash with his former club, Kaizer Chiefs.

The 37-year-old has made 18 appearances for the Super Eagles.

He was part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
