Akinterinwa, Aiyedatiwa bicker over destruction of campaign billboards in Ondo

Ahead of the governorship election in Ondo State, a political storm is gathering within the All Progressives Congress, APC, between rival camps over allegations of the destruction of campaign billboards in the state.

One of the frontline aspirants, Wale Akinterinwa, accused loyalists of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of allegedly destroying his billboards in the state.

In a swift response, the Lucky Ayedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers, LACO-FS, dismissed the allegations as ridiculous and baseless.

According to the campaign organisation of the governorship aspirant, the destruction of the billboards was a deliberate act carried out by supporters of Aiyedatiwa.

A statement signed by the spokesperson of the Wale Akinterinwa Campaign Organisation, WACO, Segun Ajiboye, accused the governor’s camp of fostering an atmosphere of intolerance, violence, and destruction towards opposing factions within the party.

According to the statement: “Unsurprisingly, the governor’s goons went as far as threatening the advertising agency never to replace the destroyed billboard.

“They went further and threatened to revoke his licence if he replaced it. This, again, is not unexpected, going by the desperation in the camp of Governor Aiyedatiwa.

“It is worth noting that not even in the bad days of the ‘wet e’ in the southwest were the scenes being created in Ondo State by Governor Aiyedatiwa and his thugs witnessed within the ranks of the same political party.”
