The chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation and former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed his deep condolences to the government and people of Ondo State over the demise of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Akeredolu died at age 67 in Germany in the early hours of Wednesday after a protracted prostate cancer.
Kalu, who represents Abia North senatorial district in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly, emphasised in a statement on Wednesday that the death of the late politician is a significant loss to the entire country.
He described Akeredolu as a bold, courageous, fearless, and selfless leader who contributed immensely to nation-building through various platforms.
Kalu acknowledged the late politician’s outstanding achievements in the legal profession and political circle, stressing that he was an accomplished Nigerian.
The ex-governor urged the deceased’s family to uphold the remarkable legacies of their late patriarch, while he prayed that God grant the late Akeredolu eternal rest.
