Again, Kefas orders release of N1bn for payment of gratuity

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has again directed the immediate release of N1 billion for the payment of gratuity to pensioners in the state.

The directive comes barely two months after N2 billion was released for the payment of retirees across the state.

Making the announcement on Tuesday in Jalingo, the state capital, the commissioner of finance, Dr. Sarah Enoch Adi, said the governor is committed to offsetting all the backlogs of pensions and gratuities.

Sarah, who was of the opinion that the governor is full of passion and zeal to confront the issue squarely, said payment of gratuity under the current administration, will continue to be given the much desired priority.

While urging the beneficiaries to conduct themselves in good manners, the governor, according to the Commissioner, will not cease from treading legitimate paths to make pensioners and the civil servants happy.

DAILY POST reports that the last time gratuities were paid in the state was in 2011, a situation that led to the accumulation of several billions of naira in arrears.
