AFCONQ 2025: ‘Poor officiating’ – Oparanozie knocks referee for disallowing Lookman’s goal against Libya

Former Super Falcons forward, Desire Oparanozie, has criticized Malawian referee Godfrey Philip Nkhakananga for disallowing Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman’s goal against Libya.

Lookman featured as Nigeria defeated Libya 1-0 in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier on Friday evening at the Godswill Akpabio international Stadium in Uyo.

The Atalanta star thought he had handed Nigeria the lead with a well-worked strike in the 83rd minute when he exchanged one-two pass with AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze.

However, Nkhakananga, on the advice of his compatriot, assistant referee Clemence Kanduku, disallowed Lookman’s goal for offside.

Few minutes later, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the winner for the Super Eagles against the North Africans.

Reacting, Oparanozie voiced her displeasure with the CAF official for disallowing Lookman’s goal, branding it as poor officiating.

“No VAR in Uyo? There’s no dent on Lookman’s goal,” Oparanozie wrote on X.
