AFCON: Super Eagles earn .5m for reaching semis

The Super Eagles have so far earned a whopping $2.5m as prize money after reaching the semi-final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a 40 per cent increase in prize money on the eve of the competition.

The prize money is different from the bonus and allowances the players received from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The overall winner of the AFCON will pocket $7 Million, while the beaten finalists earn $4 Million.

Quarterfinalists will receive $1.3 Million each, while Round of 16 qualifiers got $800,000 a team.

Nigeria will face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final at the Stade de la Paix, Bouake, on Wednesday.
