AFCON: Rio Ferdinand reveals country he’s supporting to win trophy

Former Manchester United defender and Premier League legend, Rio Ferdinand, has thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, in Ivory Coast.

Nigeria defeated South Africa 4-2 on penalty shootout to book their place in the final of the competition where they will face the host nation, Ivory Coast on Sunday.

It was South African based goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali who put in a Man of the Man display as the Super Eagles needed penalties to beat South Africa in their semi-final clash on Wednesday.

The match ended 1-1 in regulation time after 120 minutes, but Nigeria won 4-2, thanks to Nwabali, who saved two penalties during the shootout.

In a show of support to the three time African champions, the England legend posted several Nigerian flag on X and shared a picture holding the Super Eagles jersey with “Ferdinand 5” boldly written on it.
