Ademola Lookman credited his Super Eagles teammates after he picked the Man of the Match award in the side’s win against Cameroon on Saturday night.
Lookman’s brace steered the Super Eagles to a 2-0 victory against their perennial rivals at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.
The Atalanta winger opened the scoring for Jose Peseiro’s side nine minutes before the break.
The 26-year-old added the second on the stroke of full time.
“We are so happy to qualify for the quarter-finals. We have an objective before the start of the competition,” Lookman told a press conference.
“We have worked together as a team. Every player is ready to make a sacrifice for the team to succeed.
“The more we play together, the more fluid we become. I’m standing here now but this award reflects the whole team’s performance.”
The Super Eagles will take on the Palancas Negras of Angola in the quarter-final next Friday.
