Nigerian actor and clergyman, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya has urged Cameroonians to support Nigeria at the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, after the Super Eagles eliminated their national team from the competition in the round of 16 clash on Saturday.
DAILY POST recalls that Nigeria defeated Cameroon to advance to the quarterfinals, with two goals from Ademola Lookman on either side of the halves.
Reacting to the victory in a video message shared via his social media, Odukoya assured Cameroonians that he is praying for their country to bounce back in the next tournament and urged them to support Nigeria in the meantime.
He said, “To my Cameroonian family, I pray that the Lord will give you peace. I’m rooting for you as you sojourn on for next AFCON.
“I was looking forward to enjoying Cameroonian pepper, I will still eat it in solidarity.
“You guys are lions and you are going to be lions at heart. So we are still all in this.
“Now that we’ve beat you, support us as we go on to quarterfinals. But know that I’m praying for you. This is not the end for Cameroon. You will come back. I love you, we are all one family.”
Nigeria will lock horns with Angola in the quarterfinals on Friday, February 2, 2023.
